Malaria

One of the deadliest diseases in the world, malaria kills a child every 30 seconds in Africa. It is preventable and 100% treatable…sometimes the simplest solutions are the most effective. This is one. Completely change a family’s life, for as little as $8.

THE PROBLEM:

  • Roughly one million people die from malaria each year, mostly children younger than five years old.
  • A child dies every 30 seconds from malaria in Africa alone.
  • In many Africa countries, malaria kills twice as many children under the age of 5 than HIV/AIDS. Malaria is still one of the world’s most deadliest diseases.

According to the World Health Organization there are 300 – 500 million cases of malaria each year resulting in 1.5 to 2.7 million deaths. Children under the age of 5 are the most vulnerable to infection and death, with malaria being responsible for as many as half the deaths of African children under the age of five.

THE SOLUTION:

Malaria is preventable and 100% treatable when diagnosed and treated early. Insecticide-treated mosquito nets continue to be the most effective means of preventing malaria in resource-limited areas. When insecticide-treated nets are used properly by three-quarters of the people in a community, malaria transmission is cut by 50%, child deaths are cut by 20%, and the mosquito population drops by as much as 90%. Stop and think about that.

OUR PART:

We have a 3 “punch” combination that we trow at malaria, that way it won’t get back up again. The first line of defense is providing people with long lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets. Not only does this protect people from becoming infected, it kills mosquitos upon contact. Second, educating mothers on how to recognize signs and symptoms of malaria infection improves diagnoses and treatment. Lastly, we provide rapid diagnostic tests as well as working with local clinics to insure they have appropriate treatment capabilities that can facilitate quicker initiation of diagnoses and treatment, which ultimately saves lives. Together we can: “wipe out malaria…one village at a time!”
